Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I put it to you:-
Getting an actual bug in standard SAP code fixed via the service marketplace, OSS, whatever you want to call it, is unbearable agony, with a slim chance of success.
What hope then, have we of achieving anything if I logged a call saying (for example) the message about setting structures as "cannot be enhanced" is annoying/misleading/pops up at the wrong time. It's not as if it affects the business users.
If an SAP employee read the comments to this blog, would they actually be allowed to spend the five minutes cleaning up such nonsense, or would they be too busy having to change all the circular icons to squares because it is "clearer" and then in the next release turning them all into triangles because it is "clearer" and then in the next release turning them all back into circles because it is "clearer"?
At my company we spotted some horribly inefficient database access in standard SAP code, all nested SELECTS and geometric nested loops on internal tables, and sent in a detailed proposal for improving the performance.
From the response we got back you'd thing we had called the persons grandmother a dirty old cow who works for Cynthia Payne for free.
Nonetheless as we have seen if everyone keeps the pressure on for about ten years SAP sometimes caves in. Two examples are the return f bug fixes and enhancements to SAP business workflow (which was mothballed about 2002 in the hope everyone would buy a separate software system with an extra licence from SAP to handle this) and the good old "purchase orders with multiple account assignment" chestnut where if you have a PO with two cost centres on one line the accounting postings are not quite illegal, but false accounting by any definition I learned at university. For a dozen years fixing that was "impossible" until they caved in and gave the task to an intern on their first day on the job, who forged ahead and mixed up BUKRS and WERKS and used them interchangeably . The fix worked but caused so many side effects it took over 50 (honestly) OSS notes to stabilise the whole MM module.
They must have wanted to through the guy out on the street after that, but instead I think they got him to design the 740 GUI. It would explain a lot given how that behaved on it's first release.

You will probably need to reinstall ASCS, PAS and the AAS instances as these instance will be set up to run with the Oracle database which means the profiles and environment variables are setup accordingly. Also these systems will be using Oracle client until now and once the database is migrated you will need the HANA client. Unless you know how to manually modify the profiles and references to Oracle and modify it to HANA and manually move PAS to the SCS node, the best option for you would be to shutdown the ASCS node and install ASCS and PAS on the node where the PAS is presently running followed by AAS.

Re: OS dB migration
No need to upgrade the database prior to the OS migration. You can export the source system without upgrading the database and set up the target database with Oracle 11G. All you need to make sure is the target system is setup with a kernel that supports the target system OS and DB.

How to programmatically connect to SQL CE 3.5 Database
I have a c# application using SQL 2008 database and crystal report works as required to.
To make the application to be transportable with ease, I have converted the database to use SQLCE3.5 and I have re-written the queries as necessary to make the connection to the stand-alone database currently stored as Debug\Data\xyz.sdf.
However, this change has resulted in my Crystal Reports to stop functioning.
Can someone advise in how I need to change the connection values in order to establish the connection and maintain it when the application is transferred to another pc.
I have left the database open (without username and password).
Is it a good practice to have username and password (for connection purposes) even though data may not be critical?

I believe the source system is PP1 and the target system is PP2.
Check the license key table and see if the entries there are cleaned up and only the source system details are present. Just curious to know, then which is system is using RP2?

Which table I need to regenerate to resolve this issue and how to find out which table is relevant to this issue, moreover we are not running DNL_CUST_CNDALL middleware object and we are only seeing these error message in SLG1(application log) in CRM. Please provide me some more details to understand this issue and solution.

Re: SAP Instance fails to start with dispatcher getting stopped.
I got this same "Error 11 while initializing OS dependent part" problem when doing a Homogeneous system copy of a SolMan 7.1 SP14.
I fix this by shutting down SAP instances and MsSQL DB, that free memory. Then I've been able to start SAP with MMC et restart SAPinst

Tks guys appreciate all the help been given. I been reading an this is what i found:
1) Need to be done one "Analysis Session" 5 weeks before the migration, is necessary do all preparations guide by the issue report.
2) Clone the data base on the productive environment.
3) Export from "source system".
4) Import from "target system".
5) 6 weeks later have to be done the "Verification session", and apply all the recommendations listed.

Realizas algun tipo de tarea de mantenimiento ah tu BD?
Reduces el log de la BD?, por casualidad cuando realizas un ping local a la IP de tu servidor de aplicaciones hay alguna perdida?, cuanta memoria de ram tienes? que tipo de tarjeta de red tienes?, es un servidor dedicado de sap, oh consume otros servicios como terminal server,servidor de xxx aplicaciones,etc.
Te recomendaria revisar todos estos puntos para un adecuado performance de SAP.

Custom hierarchy generic datasource
Hello Experts,
I have got requirement to create Custom hierarchy data source using function module.
1. I have created hierarchy data source using t code BW07 with the following entries table, field name, data element
and the name of the data source.
2. I have created function module in SE37 as per the requirement.
Now I am not able to assign the function module (Extractor) and F4 fucntion to this created data source.
Please guide me is there any program or t code to assign the extractor (function module) to the custom hierarchy data source.

Add related view to the standard FBI view
I have added an FBI related view when I enhance the FBI view. but the relevant fields are not showing up in field catalog and it is showing errors in FPM Configurations. Did I miss something.

Re: how to use SLT for standard BW extractor ?
Hi Daniel,
If you read through the BW on HANA material, or attend open.SAP.com BWonHANA free online course. You will noticed that SLT-ODP is not recommended to replace standard BI content extractors as Standard extractors might consist of different calculation such as Inventory management etc.
As for using webservices, if you want to extract data from ECC, you should go with SLT-ODP, as ODP source allows you to use RFC connection to extract ECC data and enables delta too.
As for how to use WebService to extract data, you need to create WebServices type Source system in BW.

%IDSID% is an internal IdM notation. When running the query in SQL Dev Studio you need to change %IDSID% to the id of your IdStore.

As for not getting any members in your dyn group, you will need to calcualte the dynamic group.
This may be done by using the internal function uIS_ResolveDynamicGroup(GroupID)
