Re: PIR in inactive version in ECC

NK,

Q.1 Is there anyways to generate the PIR's for multiple products, period wise, in pare version in ECC?

I don't know what you mean by 'spare version'.  ECC PIRs can exist in multiple versions, but only a maximum of 1 version can be 'active' at a time.  The 'active' version is the version whose data is integrated to MRP and other ECC planning functions.

In ECC, there are several ways to create PIRs.  You have already discovered one (release from APO).  Some other ways are:

1. Manually

2. Copy the ECC Material Forecast

3. Copy the results of ECC Sales and Operations Planning

4. Copying from an existing plan

5. Copying from another material, or copying from another version.

MD63 is product specific and checking the PIR per product/plant/version is a painful repetitive work through MD63.

No, MD63 is not product specific.  You can display a single Material, yes, but you can also display a Product Group, and you can display an entire Requirements Plan.  The two final options typically contain multiple Materials.

Q.2 The release from Infocube to ECC doesn't has any mention of the ECC system, how does this program (/sapapo/rel_to_oltp) gets to identify which ECC system

You are copying from the BW system in APO to an ECC system.  The BW system in APO is connected to ONLY one OLTP source system for the purpose of forecast release, regardless of the number of other ECC systems you may choose to connect to APO for other purposes.  This connection is set in SCM configuration.  In SCM standard, using this transaction, you may only release a forecast from a BW Infoprovider to ONE OLTP system.

...and which Category Type needs to be updated in ECC? (screenshot #2 below)

??? There is no 'Category Type' in ECC.  You are copying data from a BW KeyFigure to an ECC PIR with a specific Requirements Type.  There are rules by which the default requirement type is created (ECC Planning Strategy and ECC MRP Group have influence).  However, you can override the default directly in the /SAPAPO/REL_TO_OLTP screen ("Data Target Show Extended Settings").

In closing, I think you need to first familiarize yourself with the standard basic functionalities in this area; stumbling about via trial and error is laborious and time consuming.  SCN is not a suitable forum for basic functional training.  I suggest you speak to a local expert who has done this before. Or, take some basic classes.  Or, try reading standard SAP help.  Here are a couple of interesting docs

from SAP help

In SCM

Release of Forecast Data - SAP Library

In ECC

Planned Independent Requirements (PIRs) - Demand Management (PP-MP-DEM) - SAP Library

Of course, you should also search SCN, which has quite a bit about this subject.

BPMon : Table Entry Counter columns not visible for config

Hi All,

We are on Solution Manager 7.1 SP 12. I have implemented BPMon in our landscape and I am using it monitor our business processes.

I am trying to configure Table Entry Counter(I have configured it for other scenarios and its working fine) on a custom table. My problem is that not all the columns that are available/visible through SE16 are visible when I try to configure Table Entry Counter for the table in question.

On the POSDM system table ZGAP_CHECK_LOG has  columns RTI and SRS which are not visible in the Table Entry Counter config and hence I cannot configure on these columns. Below are the screen shots. Never faced this issue while configuring Table Entry Counters. Can you please help.SDN_TEC_SE16_ZGAP_CHECK_LOG.JPG

Sravya, can you give us some details on what you are using to trigger your cache? When misconfigured it will definitely cause a Cache miss. I used code similar to Holger's above (though not the same) on a test proxy, here was the result:

cache_hit.png

You can see the first result took 5.29 seconds due to its large size, while the second request, a successful cache hit, only took 183ms.

Hi Pre Dev,

If you want to use Union composite provider in another join composite provider.

In General tab of Union composite provider enable the checkbox "This composite provider can be used in Another composite provider".

Then you can use this in your another join.

Thanks,

Saravanan.

Solution for my case as follows.

1.) Create a join composite provider in BW on HANA

2.) Create a calculation view in underlying HANA data base copy from above composite provider.

3.) Create union composite provider including calculation view in above step.

Thanks,

Saravanan.

Re 2093:

Margaret:  Thanks for the phone call.  As discussed, can you please contact your IRS contact and confirm with them that if 00 is populated in the Plan Start Month XML field that since it is optional for 2015, it will have no adverse impact for those of us offering health plan coverage to our employees.  In other words, the value will be ignored or not applicable for the 2015 filing.

That would help greatly in resolving this question/issue.

As reference and why I am inquiring about this 'optional' field is:

In December, 2015, our legal counsel advised us:

"The use of "00" means no health plan was offered to the employee"

My response form the IRS AIR Mailbox in February, 2016 was:

"Hi Nancy

Entering "00" will indicate there is no health plan under which coverage is offered to the employee, per the instructions.

Regards

Air Mailbox Team, dkb

Thanks, Margaret.

Re: Is it possible to show dates on mobile reports?

Hi Juan Mena,

You could use a free cell with the last run formula on your report. This would work on Tablet devices as per layout design. This would work for Webi reports.

Please refer http://scn.sap.com/community/mobile/businessobjects/blog/2014/11/15/guidelines-for-designing-webi-reports-for-sap-businessobjects-mobile

Note:- If you are using it on a iPhone you will need to attach a free cell to a report part. Please Refer to Report Designer Guide of how to attach a free cell to Report Part. http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boexir4/en/631_mobiOS_Repdesigner_en.pdf

SELECT when one column might be NULL

$

Hi,

Inside of a stored procedure I'm doing the following

SELECT T.LineId,T.Qty

FROM TransactionRows AS T

WHERE T.ArticleId = @ArticleId AND T.LotNumber = @LotNumber;

@ArticleId contains the "article number" that I want to select, and @LotNumber contains the "lot number".

The problem is that @LotNumber might be an actual value, OR IT MIGHT BE NULL.

If @LotNumber is NULL, the SELECT above FAILS.   However, if it is NOT NULL, it doesn't fail.

After many years working with databases I hadn't realized this until now ....

To get the correct row(s), if @LotNumber is null, I would have to write:

SELECT T.LineId,T.Qty

FROM TransactionRows AS T

WHERE T.ArticleId = @ArticleId AND T.LotNumber IS NULL

The complete statement would be:

IF @LotNumber IS NULL THEN

  SELECT T.LineId,T.Qty

  FROM TransactionRows AS T

  WHERE T.ArticleId = @ArticleId AND T.LotNumber IS NULL;

ELSE

  SELECT T.LineId,T.Qty

  FROM TransactionRows AS T

  WHERE T.ArticleId = @ArticleId AND T.LotNumber = @LotNumber;

END IF;

Is there a more elegant way of doing this?

Thanks,

Edgard

Re: Copying user Interface design of configuration profile

Hi Deepak,

As far as I know, I am not aware of any standard function that can help reaching directly your aim.

However, there are a couple of BAPI's that can be used in a custom program, and with them I do believe it should be possible to satisfy your request.

They are:

BAPI_UI_GETDETAIL

that loads detail information for Interface Design

BAPI_UI_SAVEM

that creates (or changes) Interface Design

(please also have a look at CUDUI function group for other).

Basically, the custom program should first read the existing ID details with the first BAPI, make the needed changes (ID name and whatever) and finally create the new ID with the second BAPI.

Alternatively, there could also be the possibility to create an IDoc from the existing ID, make the needed changes (ID name, etc), and import it afterwards.

I do hope this could be of some help.

Thanks and regards,

Flavio

Re: Career change from SAP FICO ?

Hi Ajay

Your point is valid... to an extent...

However, I see many situations where employer's place graduates in jobs that aren't their core skills. I see situations where the 'sink or swim' approach is common and a member could be the HR person on one place and told you need to "reskill" as the Finance at the next site.

Is this right/ethical/fair? - I'm of two minds. But more it comes back down to that life is not always fair. Sometimes you need to take so long as you don't steal.

I see members who graduate with business degrees are placed in more technical roles compare to me with my IT degree. Should they have said no to the technical role even though they now excel and considered to be an expert now?

I see people follow Richard's Branson's mantra (say yes to opportunity and figure it out later). Is this a bad approach? Again, I'm of two minds. Sometimes an employer putting you into a role is due to seeing skills that you can develop. The approach in how you move to such roles determines a bit of the ethics behind it and whether you take a stand. Then other times, they made a sale without considering their core capabilities and you've been thrown in the deep end with a stick/carrot incentive to figure it out.

The more I am on SCN and part of this community, the more I am relaxing some of my judgement of people in jobs out of their depth. I by no means think the person has zero responsibility in how they go there. And I still gets frustrated to see untrained people making decision/changes on SAP systems. However, if such members are here (esp under a real name) admitting they are struggling and keen to improve then it's a great start. There is little value in pointing out to the person a conclusion they have already drawn.

It's why on such threads like these, my encouragement to the member is to improve business knowledge. As a trainer, would you have a different recommendation to offer?

Colleen

Annual Salary according pay periods

$

Hi All

I am new to USA payroll,Please give me some input on below query.

we have custom report which has different fields from payroll and benefits(USA).Currently annual salary field displays as per the date of report execution. But we want to make changes to this report, and new logic would be annual salary should display in the report as per the pay period.I have provided standard function module to our developer which pulls pay periods, here my question is where is integration/assignment between annual and pay periods. Please find below example.

Payroll area          Pay period start     pay period end   Annual Salary

BW(Bi-weekly)       01/01/2016             01/14/2016        50,000 USD

BW                        01/15/2016            01/31/2016         52,000 USD

BW                        02/01/2016             02/14/2016         54,000 USD

BW                         02/15/2016            02/28/2016          56,000 USD

From the above example,if i run report, for the 16th of Jan 2016, report should display annual salary amount as 52,000 USD not as 56,000 to achieve this do we have to do any configuration.

Thanks

shree
